Spider-Man 3 premiered in all its glory reaping in a whopping $149 million this past opening weekend. $10 from my pocket contributed to this lump sum. I liked the movie, and I know this because despite catching a 12:01AM showing (2 hours and 1 minute past my super early bedtime) I managed to remain bright-eyed and awake throughout the duration of the movie (and during the waiting!). Much of the movie was comical (no pun intended) much like the previous Spidey flicks, and I always enjoy some comic relief. The action was entertaining and so was the bad, black Spidey. I like to call him "Emo Spidey" or "Emo Peter" particularly due to his dark greasy hair that covered one eye and his black eyeliner. Whom I found more entertaining was Harry mainly when he was "forgetful Harry". The goofy smiles cracked me up. I was excited to see Venom, but I think his time on screen was limited. I expected him to show up earlier in the film. Though, I was pleasantly surprised at how they were able to integrate three villains in the film without the story lines getting choppy or being unrelated to one another. Good job, guys. Overall, I think the first Spider-Man was still the best one but I'm happy with all three :)
Next up...
Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At The World's End, May 25
I'm not sure how I feel about this movie. I didn't really like the second Pirates, but of course I'll still have to see this one. Not much advertisement has been promoted aside from billboards speckled around the city. An interesting approach, but I guess if you held the previous record for the largest opening weekend (before Spider-Man 3) you don't need too much advertisement now do you?
Transformers, July 4
It's release date is reminiscent of ID4 but I guess its premise is similar. I'm pretty excited about this movie mainly because it just looks bad ass. Of course, there's a sense of nostalgia since my generation is the main generation that was found playing with Transformers as children. I used to have a transformer-esque watch as a child when I lived in Japan. It was yellow and I could pop the robot/watch off the strap and play with it. I miss that watch.
Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix (Part 5), July 13
This movie needs no explanation. I can't wait. Neither can I wait for the last book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, being released July 21st.
