Here is the email I sent to them.
Dunn-Rite,
Before I file my complaint with the Better Business Bureau, I thought I'd extend the courtesy of emailing to get my issues resolved. Contacting you by phone seems to be useless such that I always get the answering machine and my calls are never returned. Isn't 714-534-2800 the correct number? It still seems to be.
Anyway, I originally booked a visit via American Home Shield to repair my air conditioning, and regrettably they paired me with your company. The initial contact to make an appointment was quick unlike the rest of the process. The first appointment was March 1, 2007. I was told that the transformer was bad and since it was a special kind it had to be special ordered. I was told that I was to get a return visit the following week. I paid my co-payment and waited. I got no phone calls, nothing.
So after attempting numerous times to get a hold of you guys after that, I finally made contact and was rudely told that the part hadn't come in yet and that they'll call me when it arrives, something they could have told me beforehand before I got irate due to an unresponsive company. It seems excessive to have to wait for 2 months for a part. Finally, I get another call to schedule an appointment and one of your people came out May 8, 2007. I thought this would be the end of it, but no, he came with the wrong part and told me that it was nothing to worry about, it should be a "quick fix" and someone should call me within the next two days to reschedule. It's July 31st, and I'm still waiting.
So why am I so upset? I had to take unpaid time off of work to accommodate your work schedule, AND it's been 5 MONTHS since this was supposed to initially be taken care of. I've made numerous attempts calling your number while always being greeted with your answering machine rather than a live voice. I've left many messages which included my personal contact information, but never received a call back.
All I want is for you guys to come fix it already at a time that is convenient for me. I'm free this Friday.
P.S. If I get no satisfactory response from you, at least give me the part number of the transformer and a full refund. I'd greatly appreciate it. Otherwise, I will be filing a complaint to the BBB.

wow that sucks. we were just talking about how hard it is to find a good plumber at work today!
yeah... the whole situation is screwy. i might have to get a lawyer.
I have used Dunn-Rite Air and Heating in the past and they are as you described, FLAKES!!. The owner's named is Doug W. and numerous times I had scheduled an appointment with him and each time I was stood up. Doug usually uses a lame excuse concerning family problems or an illness to explain his inability to keep to his word. Recently he exhibited the same behavior to a close friend of mine. After numerous no-shows and repeated promises to show, he just never arrived.
His work is below par and I just learned from another source that the job he did for them was flawed and had to be redone by another HVAC company.
There are other HVAC companies out there. Avoid this one at all costs.
