Call Me Irresponsible, Michael

I'm looking forward to the new Michael Buble album that comes out tomorrow, "Call Me Irresponsible"! Thanks to my sister for pointing this out to me. I'm such a bad fan, I should have known. Haha...

I'm hoping it has more of his original music like "Home". It's refreshing to hear something new with his soothing voice. This video shows Mr. Buble discussing his new song "It Had Better Be Tonight". Who knew he had such a sense of humor? :)

Techie Finds and Video Game Exercise

I was perusing geeksugar today and saw a couple posts that caught my attention.

First was the Princess Dresser With Mirror PC. I've always wanted a little vanity set, but this would suit me perfectly! However, surfing the web and trying to do my makeup and hair simultaneously seems a bit difficult to do. On the other hand, this would be useful for those times you are trying to follow some sort of hair or makeup tutorial :P But I guess a laptop could work too, hehe.

Another post that caught my attention was Wired Proposes: Gamer Gut Begone! This is particularly encouraging for those looking for an alternative workout from the traditional workouts like jogging or aerobics.
Add some video games to your workout
Instead of....
1.5 hours of weight lifting (842 calories)
Play
1 hour of Dance Dance Revolution (900 calories)

Instead of....
30 minutes of aerobics (242 calories)
Play 30 minutes of wii boxing (250 calories)

Instead of....
20 minutes of jogging (198 calories)
Play 1 hour of PS3/Xbox on the couch (204 calories)

Instead of....
15 minutes of sex (33 calories)
Play 7 minutes of Wii Tennis (46 calories)

*Caloric expenditure is based on a 180-pound male. So clearly, caloric expenditure will vary.

This is a good alternative until I finally muster up the courage to sign up for pole-dancing classes :P

Google Maps

It looks like Google Maps has a new thing called "My Maps" where you can 'create personalized, annotated, customized maps'. I looked at one of the featured maps, The Googleplex. Google has always seemed like a great place to work, but this just rubs it in my face more. From what I hear, it's harder to get into Google than it is to get into Microsoft. A friend of mine interviewed with them recently and as far as I know he's still waiting. I want to work for pet-friendly Google!

Recent Home Improvements

It was another home improvement weekend. In the past month or so I've made a lot of changes to my house. I'd say they're pretty minor but still enough to make a big difference. I put some money aside to make some changes, all I needed was time to go through with my ideas. I made a lot of changes to the living room area mainly, and finally put up some decorations that have been waiting to be hung.

A list of some changes:
- curtains (again), for the bedroom. Not too happy with the color, but I'll wait on changing them yet again, hehe
- wall decor, much more pleasing to the eye :)
- coffee table, gave my old one to B and bought a new one along with new ottomans with the convertible tray top :D
- side table, to match the coffee table
- lovesac, unfortunately is no longer. It took up too much space and no matter where we put it, it was hard to get around it. It now resides in my cousin's huge bedroom.
- curtains, to provide privacy near the french door. My initial idea didn't work out, but I think it looks better with the curtains up.
- screen door, at the front door. I originally wanted to get those security doors but this one is a fraction of the cost and looks better. It was quite a task for B and me to install, but we're happy with the result :)

With some of the money saved on alternatives, I still have much of my money left over so I'm kind of waiting and debating what I want to spend the rest on. Here are some things I still want to "improve":
- new dining set, but don't know what to do with the current one
- fix screen door in master bedroom
- add closet door to guest room
- add closet racks to office
- fix mirror on office closet
- landscape front yard/patio
- new LCD TV!!! I'm waiting on a great deal and I want to hang it above the fireplace and with that I won't have to worry about the next on the list...
- new tv stand to match the other furniture

Of course there are some things that could wait, but sometimes I get real picky and anal retentive and don't like to wait, haha!

Joey's Smokin' BBQ

I just came back from lunch with friends at work from the new restaurant that opened up in Manhattan Village, Joey's Smokin' B-B-Q. Apparently, it's a restaurant owned by Laker Luke Walton and his brother Chris Walton (who served us today... he's so freakin' tall!) so some of the guys wanted to try it out. I tried the BBQ brisket sandwich and the sweet potato fries. I can never pass up some good sweet potato fries! Yum! I also tried a little of my friend's fried pickles. I'm so full, but it was pretty good eats.

Weekend Getaway: Catalina Island

Wow, this weekend was SOOO super busy. I'm exhausted, I need another day to unwind.

Friday morning, B and I left for Catalina. We spent most of the day hanging out, eating, shopping, and enjoying each other's time. The only thing that was planned that day was the Avalon scenic tour. It was nice not to rush on a schedule. The weather was beautiful so we didn't hesitate to spend some time outside. We stayed at Hotel Metropole and the room was really nice :)

Saturday started out a relaxing day, but we got up early to reserve our spot on the glass-bottom boat tour. Luckily the wind settled down so we were able to see fish clearly. (pics to be posted later)

After we got back, we had to immediately head over to our relatives' houses. It was exhausting... but it's ok because I got to see my family. Sunday B's family had a lunch get together for his and his brother's birthdays. Mmm! Good food :)

We got home a little later than I hoped last night, so unfortunately I only caught the last part of "Charm School". However, I was able to watch the reunion show for "I Love New York"!!! Wow, what a great reunion show. I won't spoil it, but what a crazy twist! Every minute of it was entertaining, haha.

Google's Housing Database

Google has a new housing database out, still in it's Beta stage. It's pretty cool but it's unclear as to what their resource is (MLS?). I always like having MLS listings at my fingertips even if I'm not ready to get a new house just yet ^_^

Happy Birthday, B! / Happy Easter!

Saturday was B's 27th birthday so since we were both going to be with our relatives during the weekend I decided to take him out to dinner Friday night. We went to Lawry's in Beverly Hills. Unfortunately for me, it was Good Friday so I could not partake in enjoying the prime rib... which is what they're famous for! But it's ok... I snuck a taste :X He had the prime rib dinner and we added two lobster tails, and I had the salmon dinner. Mmm... everything was so yummy! We still have leftovers. I'm looking forward to eating those :D

This weekend was Easter so I spent it with my relatives. Since Easter is now over, this means I could eat fried food again! It wasn't so bad avoiding fried food, but it made it really hard on Fridays when I couldn't eat meat nor fried food! Which means I couldn't even eat fish sandwiches that were fried :\ I don't have a craving for fried food, but it takes the weight off of being really picky with what I eat.

I'm hoping this week will go by fast since it's my short week. Next weekend I'm taking B to Catalina!
