Google’s Response to Facebook: “Maka-Maka” via TechCrunch - Honestly, I'm over the social networks. Myspace is so yesterday for me :P I'm even part of Google's Orkut and part of Facebook, but never use them. I'm interested to see what's in store.
The bigger vision is to combine all of Google’s apps and services through Maka-Maka. Google already has so much data on you, depending on how many Google apps you already use. It just needs to bring everything together. Your contacts are in Gmail. Your feeds are in Google Reader. Your IM buddy list is in Gtalk. Your upcoming events are in Google Calendar. Your widgets are in iGoogle. And don’t forget about your search history. Overtime, Google will connect all of these together in different ways, along with data about you from other social services across the Web, and give developers access to the social layer tying all of these apps together underneath. The real killer app for Google is not to turn Orkut into a Facebook clone. It is to turn every Google app into a social application without you even noticing that you’ve joined yet another social network.
Google Phone Plan Draws Interest via The Wall Street Journal - I'm all for a Google-powered phone, but I'll be leaving their potential partner (Verizon) soon because I plan to get my Helio by the end of this week! I'm becoming hesitant now but it seems like it won't launch until summer of next year. Look for details in a couple of weeks. But in an effort to make myself feel better, I should probably wait until all the kinks are figured out anyway... right?!?
My Angie is back to the big screen playing the typical bad-ass role we all know her for... and I LOVE it! "Wanted" stars Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, and that kid from "Last King of Scotland", James McAvoy.
A young man (McAvoy) finds out his long lost father is an assassin. And when his father is murdered, the son is recruited into his father's old organization and trained by a man named Sloan (Freeman) to follow in his dad's footsteps.
I love her smoky, sexy look! I'm looking forward to seeing this next year :D
I wouldn't call it an obsession, but lately I've been intrigued by "old Hollywood glamour". I've always been a fan of all things retro and vintage, but I've recently started to really appreciate the classic, timeless styles and looks of old Hollywood. When I refer to this, I mean it in the broadest sense... eras in the 20s through the 60s. I've even been listening to a 50s/60s online radio station, Martini In The Morning. It's not too far off from what I enjoy listening to since I do love Michael Buble, and a lot of it is stuff I listened to while growing up (thanks to my parents) :) Perhaps my draw to it are the iconic, stylish women of that time. Or the classic beauty of the pinup girls. Or the music. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it can't be pinpointed to just one thing. But I think because of this I'm becoming more interested in learning more about the women of the era, particularly Audrey Hepburn. Of course I loved everything about her in "Breakfast at Tiffany's", but I don't know too much more about her aside from that movie. But we can all agree that she is a style icon.
Hmm... Maybe I should be a flapper, pinup girl, or Audrey for Halloween this year... yeah right! Haha...
I was recently discussing with my friend about how it's funny that sometimes people say I have a "California" accent. I don't know if it's because everyone else seems to speak like I do but I never considered myself to have an accent. I considered myself more lacking an accent. So today, I saw a post on the Fred Flare blog that addresses this. I guess we were both right. I have an accent considered to be "The West", but at the same time "no one thinks [I] have an accent". Hmm... too bad. If I had grown up in my birthplace (RI), I would definitely qualify for one of the other ones! Hehe :P
What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The West
Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

Between the Smashbox/Seychelles warehouse sale last Friday, factory outlets, and ghetto "brand names for less" stores, there was a lot of money spent but even more money saved this weekend (depending on how you look at it :P). I came home with A LOT of stuff, as well as a little guilt, haha. But I don't feel too bad... I made out like a bandit :)
From the warehouse sale, my makeup haul was pretty big but I couldn't help myself when the products were marked down almost 75% or more! Luckily, their selection wasn't too broad, but there was enough variety to setup a new collection of makeup. I also walked away with a few pairs of shoes thanks to B :) I can't wait to wear them all!
I finally got to check out this "Brand Names 4 Less" store back in SD this weekend. I've been wanting to check it out since it opened but the last few times I went home I was too busy to do so. I needed a good alternative to this other ghetto store my friend pointed out to me that closed down a while back where you could get a pair of Diesel jeans for $12! The "Everything 5 Dollars" store next to this new store doesn't suffice. Anyway, with some good perusing, as well as B's help, I managed to find a lot of good stuff! For example, I got a pair of Miss Sixty heels, a Paper Denim & Cloth shirt, a pair of Juicy Couture track pants, 2 Harajuku Lovers bags, 1 Harajuku Lovers wallet all for pretty cheap! It's a hit-or-miss type store that will require a lot of looking around. I'll probably visit it once in a while just to see what's in stock :)
And one last thing... My nephew's birthday was this weekend so my sister had a little pirate-themed children's party for him at Birch Aquarium. It was fun, and it was my first time at Birch and my first time seeing sea dragons! They are sooo cool looking. I think I found my favorite aquatic creature :) So anyway...
Remember when raving became so mainstream circa '99-2000? I don't really know how I suddenly came to think about it, but I got a sudden urge to listen to electronic/trance/rave music from back in the day today. I admit, I was not one of the true "underground" ravers but my attraction to the scene was influenced by friends who were. Thankfully, that era in my history was short-lived. I'm quite over that phase, but it's always fun(ny) to reminisce. Candy-walk, anyone? Light-shows? Vicks?! Haha! Here are some of the key mainstream songs that come to mind when thinking of that time. Have a listen to the playlist I compiled!
