Movies Over The Break

It's weird that my vacation is over. Not too much was accomplished during my break, but I did see a couple good movies. For the latter half of last week, we took care of my nephew and took him to watch a couple movies and took him to his long awaited pirates dinner!

Alvin and the Chipmunks - I didn't expect much from this movie which is probably why I liked it. It was a cute movie, but I wouldn't have minded waiting for DVD. My nephew loved it though. Those chipmunk voices... too cute ^_^

Sweeney Todd - I've been wanting to see this because I LOVE Johnny Depp movies. He's fantastic. I didn't know a whole lot about this movie, but it looked dark, it was a musical, and it had Johnny Depp... altogether an equation for a "must-see" for me. I didn't realize that it was going to be frightening for children (stupidity on my part... it does say "demon" barber!), so I spent a lot of the time covering my nephew's eyes. But overall, I LOVED this movie! I loved everything about it... the score/soundtrack, the plot, the cinematography... and since I had no prior knowledge of the original musical, I appreciated the storyline even more. I would love to see this live. Too bad the live musicals wouldn't star Mr. Depp. Isn't he one of the most well-aged 40-somethings you've seen?! (Read as HOT!) Aside from Pitt and Reeves, he looks awesome for his age... love him!

Oh Sweeney Todd is an amazing live show. My college did it a few years back...probably not as gross as the movie (which I haven't seen yet), but there is something very raw about a live production of this show.
