Question 1
T/F: Taking birth control pills causes ovarian cancer.
False
Taking the pill doesn't cause ovarian cancer, but rather a new study shows that women who take the pill can avoid developing it, and that the effects can last up to 30 years or longer. Plus the longer you're on it, the better. That's great news for women who've been on the pill for while.
Question 2
T/F: Getting enough fiber can reduce your risk of developing ovarian cancer.
True
Yes, getting at least 30g of fiber a day has been shown to reduce your risk of developing ovarian cancer by 40 percent. That's a great reason to eat more fruit, veggies, and whole grains.
Question 3
T/F: Early warning signs of ovarian cancer can mimic other common diseases.
True
Early warning signs of ovarian cancer include bloating, urgency to urinate, pelvic or abdominal pain, loss of appetite, pain during intercourse, and lower back pain, so women are often diagnosed with another condition before ovarian cancer. Since early symptoms often go undetected, only 20 percent of ovarian cancers are found before tumor growth spreads to surrounding tissues and organs. If you have any of these signs, I'd definitely see a doctor.
Question 4
T/F: An ultrasound of your ovaries can determine whether a mass on them is cancerous.
False
While an ultrasound can help doctors see masses or tumors on ovaries, it can't reliably determine whether it's cancerous or not. Further testing needs to be done to figure out if cancer is present.
Question 5
T/F: Having a baby reduces your risk of ovarian cancer.
True
Yes, having at least one baby can reduce your risk of developing ovarian cancer. Breastfeeding for a year or longer may also help.

Sweeney Todd Comes To Los Angeles!
Since my very short review on Sweeney Todd weeks ago, I've been trying to refrain from posting anything Sweeney-related in hopes that I won't express how truly crazy I am over this movie. You don't need to know that I might possibly listen to the soundtrack multiple times a day, nor that I can watch it when I want... what?Anyway, as I mentioned before, I've been wanting to see this live. Leave it to the loving (and the most considerate) boyfriend to grant all my wishes :) The same man who gladly drove me all over the place this weekend to satisfy my crazy makeup urges :P He got tickets so we can watch it in March! I'm so excited :D For all you Goldstar members, here's your chance to get pre-sale tickets for half-off! Here's some of the information:

RIP Heath Ledger
I just heard the news from my sister that Heath Ledger was found dead today from possible drug overdose. This news saddened me even though I didn't think it would have. It's definitely a shocker because he was so young and his career was in a good place. It's a shame this had to happen before the release of "The Dark Knight". The day of that release is going to evoke a mixture of emotions. I'm excited for the flick, but sad that the star will not be there to see its success. RIP Heath Ledger!
Missed Opportunities?
Now I'm discovering more and more private makeup companies sprouting up selling mineral makeup! It's been the craze for a while now, but I sense that it will become even more popular as time goes by. I've been using mineral makeup for some time now (almost soon after BE first started) and I love makeup, so you would think that I would have considered trying to start my own mineral makeup company as well!!! Where was I?!? Again, I have the feeling that my time may have passed, but my main hindrance is not knowing where the heck to get started. If you check Etsy and search 'mineral makeup', you'll see that there are already so many little companies already in business. *sigh* Darnit! I think this is a small business I would have enjoyed doing... hehe :\ I need to start thinking more like a businesswoman!!!
A couple of the ones that caught my attention on Etsy:

Barbie By Patricia Field
An email from Hot Topic arrived in my inbox with the subject line "See Patricia Field's Vision of Barbie". When I think of Barbie I think of a nostalgic girly-girl childhood. I'll be the first to deny that I am an ounce girly-girl and proclaim that I'm all tomboy, but B likes to remind me that I like purses, makeup, and all other things "girly-girls" love. Ok, he got me. Maybe he's right. I did play with few Barbies as a kid, but I still refuse to be prissy ;) I do kick myself for not buying items from the limited 'Barbie Loves MAC' line (I really wanted that Barbie!), but I've been trying to recover some of those items in some cosmetic stores that carry discounted MAC items. So far I have an eyeshadow pot and a lipstick. Yippee!
Hehe... Anyway, I'm a fan of Barbie, but not a HUGE fan... but Barbie with an edge? I dig it. Check out the Patricia Field line of Barbie items here. Btw, I'm loving this model's hair! :)

2008 Resolutions
1. Lose the fat - A universal resolution, but in my case this really has to happen. I've gained a good amount of weight thanks to my other half :P but it's depressing that I can't wear all the clothes I own without feeling self-conscious. I don't like resorting to buying "fat clothes" because I think it's just an easy way for me to get off track. The main thing I need right now is motivation to get off my lazy butt and exercise as well as eat better.
2. Learn Cantonese - I was going to start this late last year but things just got really busy for me. I'm working on devising a good schedule for working out and studying. This is one of the languages I want to learn (aside from Spanish and Japanese, and brushing up on my Tagalog), but because B's parents speak Cantonese this one takes precedence over the other languages :)
3. Makeup blog? - B might be one of the only few that know that I would love to be a makeup artist, but I don't have much confidence in my "work" to really pursue this. I'm not even sure where to start so he thought it would be a good idea to post looks, ask for opinions, etc. I don't know. I'm a little shy about it so we'll see what happens. I've reserved a spot just in case I decide to go through with it ;) We'll see if I even keep that webpage, the name may change hehe...
4. Take more pictures - I have lots of good cameras but I rarely take them out. What a waste. Perhaps I can start photoblogging? We'll see. Sometimes there's a certain amount of privacy lost when posting pictures, but I'll just be more selective with what I post.
5. Dress better for work - This one is actually dependent on the success of resolution #1. I'm not getting any younger so I feel like I should be dressing more "mature", but it's difficult to care when my job doesn't require a specific wardrobe. However, I don't want to invest in nicer clothes until I'm satisfied with my body size.
6. Take a pole dancing class - I heard it's a great workout and it sounds like fun. I've been putting this off for sooo long. I want to take at least one class before the end of this year!
7. Go to church more - I've been pretty lazy about attending church on a regular basis. I got to be good!
Aaand... I can't think of anything else right now, but it looks like I already have enough to worry about ;) I better get started!

Movies Over The Break
Alvin and the Chipmunks - I didn't expect much from this movie which is probably why I liked it. It was a cute movie, but I wouldn't have minded waiting for DVD. My nephew loved it though. Those chipmunk voices... too cute ^_^
Sweeney Todd - I've been wanting to see this because I LOVE Johnny Depp movies. He's fantastic. I didn't know a whole lot about this movie, but it looked dark, it was a musical, and it had Johnny Depp... altogether an equation for a "must-see" for me. I didn't realize that it was going to be frightening for children (stupidity on my part... it does say "demon" barber!), so I spent a lot of the time covering my nephew's eyes. But overall, I LOVED this movie! I loved everything about it... the score/soundtrack, the plot, the cinematography... and since I had no prior knowledge of the original musical, I appreciated the storyline even more. I would love to see this live. Too bad the live musicals wouldn't star Mr. Depp. Isn't he one of the most well-aged 40-somethings you've seen?! (Read as HOT!) Aside from Pitt and Reeves, he looks awesome for his age... love him!
